This is a student timeline showing the fur trade, War of 1812, and 7 Years' War. It was made with Timeline JS. A great site!

Thank You To Workshop Participants!

Thanks to all the people who came out today to participate in the PBL and Project Tuning workshop! Special thanks to Kim and Wayne for presenting.

As I mentioned in the workshop, this blog was somewhat hastily thrown together to enable resource sharing for today. I hope to be able to keep updating it fairly regularly (sorry people, a bit busy for super regular updates at the moment, I'm trying with Moodle and Twitter as it is). I intend to update it sporadically in the future, but please let me know if there is something in particular you would like to see and I will be happy to  add it.

Mapping Project Guidelines

This is the information for the mapping project I did with my Grade 8 students at the start of the year.

I teach in a Project Based Learning program and this project was one of the ways students explored their first major question "Who am I and where do I fit in?"

This section of the project ties into Social Studies and English curriculum. Students created a shared Google Map where they got a better sense of their local, provincial, national, and international community by summarizing news stories on the map weekly. Students also explored this question at later stages by writing memoirs, autobiographical "fraction" poetry, and setting up a darkroom where they created images from their environment.
